Africa Beyond Visual Arts Residencies
April – June 2008
Nigerian photographer Andrew Esiebo is resident in London as part of Africa Beyond Visual Arts Residencies. The Photographers’ Gallery and Gasworks are jointly hosting his time in London.
During his London residency, Esiebo will be developing a body of work related to Nigerians who have settled in different parts of Europe. His ongoing work includes a series documenting of Lagos club nights, Sunday Jump; a night-long Christian service in some of Nigeria’s religious camps, Holy Ghost Night; and a project exploring his country’s passion for playing football, Soccer World.
Esiebo is also a member of the Black Box photography collective, based out of Lagos.
