The catalyst for Mike Whelan’s Ad-Site project was a perceived increase in new construction work taking place in London. Hoardings are erected in front of each building site. They present 'artists impressions' of the future site, depicting a modern utopia with promises of an elevated social existence through living, working or even just visiting one of the finished projects. But there is a radical distinction between utopian vision and the social reality of ‘regeneration’. www.mwimages.org
